Alton Water used to be a convenient site for training/work-out dives. Unfortunately in 2004 somebody complained to the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) about the platform that the Colchester Club had provided in the diving area and all diving was suspended. Subsequently it looked like diving was going to be opened up again, but the Alton Water Management Committee decided that they could not provide the infrastructure(?) to support diving at Alton Water.
Currently there is no diving at Alton Water. This leaves Gildenburgh and Stoney Cove as Sunstar's nearest sites for open water training.
