Diving Officer

Responsible to: Sunstar club committee

MAIN DUTIES:

1. To take overall responsibility for all diving and training within Sunstar Sub Aqua.
2. To ensure that all diving is conducted in accordance with BSAC Rules and Recommendations and the Safe Diving Practices booklet.
3. To work with the Training Officer to ensure that an adequate program of instruction for OCEAN DIVER and SPORT DIVER grades is put in place.
4. To take responsibility for planning and execution of training for DIVE LEADER and ADVANCED DIVER grades, from time to time as suitable candidates become available.
5. To notify Branch Members of any changes to BSAC standards and procedures communicated from the Regional or National organisation of the BSAC.
6. To work with the Training Officer to co-ordinate the availability of students and instructors.
7. To Work with the Sunstar Equipment Officer and the students to ensure that suitable equipment is available as required.
8. To provide feedback to the Sunstar Committee on the progress of training and diving operations.
9. To notify the BSAC of any dive-related incidents arising during the normal diving activities of the branch, using the approved incident reporting mechanisms.
