Assistant Instructor

Responsible to: Sunstar BSAC Diving Officer and Sunstar club committee

MAIN DUTIES:

1. Provide instruction in response to requests for your services from the Training Officer, Diving Officer, a Nationally Qualified Instructor or the students themselves.
2. Ensure that all instruction is provided in accordance with the syllabus and guidelines in the BSAC Instructor's handbook.
3. Ensure that all open water diving is carried out in accordance with the BSAC Safe Diving Procedures booklet.
4. If you are not available on the proposed dates, inform the Diving Officer and/or Training Officer.
5. If you are available on the proposed dates, confirm from the students training records, the Diving Officer or the Training Officer the student's current progress and capabilities before planning the training exercise.
6. Discuss the planning of the lessons with a NQI. Ensure that you have adequate supervision to carry out the exercise.
7. Following the training exercise, advise the supervising NQI as whether the students have reached the required standard and that their training records if can be signed off.
8. Provide feedback to the Diving Officer, Training Officer and/or NQI on the student's progress.
