Sunstar Minibus

The Sunstar Minibus is a 9 seater LDV. It has plenty of room in the back to store heavy kit, a rear towbar, comfy seats with seatbelts and headrests and a radio to while away those long journeys.

The minibus is available for use on all club trips, and is also available for hire for private trips if it is not already being used by the club. There is a minimum cost of £20 for non-club use. The minibus can be booked either through the minibus officer or through the Sunstar diary system if you have a password.

Any club member over the age of 25 can drive the minibus.

The minibus must be returned full of diesel after use and the mileage sheet must also be filled in and any problems reported.

Minibus Keys are held by: Pete Young, David Parkinson. There should also be one in the key cabinet in the boat hut.

Boat Hut keys are held by: Raj Mistry, Pete Young, John Cook, Dave Lock, Chris Hall, Chris Bond.

Notes:

Anyone who passed their driving test after 1st January 1997 cannot tow a trailer greater than 750kg MAM (Maximum Authorised Mass) without taking a further test. (Such test is currently ~£90). This means that towing Buzo is ok for them, but Calypso (~1.9 tonnes) isn't.

Charges

Currently mileage charges are a flat rate of £5 per person per trip. Students, and instructors who are 100% involved in their training, are exempt from this charge.

There is a per-person mileage related charge for those travelling in the minibus. This will be collected by the trip organiser and passed to the club treasurer. If it is a training trip then this charge is waived for trainees and those instructors who are 100% involved in the training.

Fuel costs are normally shared equally amongst those travelling in the minibus. However if the Minibus is used to tow a club boat then the fuel cost is shared across those in the Minibus and any additional people who make use of the boat.
